Notes

Cacao Paste

I always use cacao as a base for alchemizing a rich, earthy, grounding potion. The key to making it especially delicious? Using an heirloom variety of cacao paste that (unlike cacao powder) has not been separated from it’s natural fat content. Cacao paste comes in large blocks of solid cacao which I chop into tiny chocolate bits for daily consumption. Cacao paste is a bit pricier than cacao powder but superior in nutrient-density and richness. It makes the thickest, most buttery chocolate elixir.

Reishi

I find myself gravitating towards super herbs that help me shift into a restorative mode. So my favorite super mushroom is calming reishi. To experience the full calming-effects caused by the medicinal compounds in reishi, product integrity is important. And by “product integrity” I mean a bitter — really bitter — mushroom dual-extract that is high in beta-glucans but low in starch (which dilutes the medicinal compounds). Basically: an extract made of the fruiting bodies only, not including the mycelium.
